Das Rosenburger Rittermahl

Feast as in the Renaissance era in the unique ambience of Renaissance Castle Rosenburg. Experience history up close, and also taste it during a Knight’s Banquet. This event is a historical & culinary foray that includes table manners, dining customs and medieval dishes.

Our castellan “Franz Ludwig von Peygarten” will guide guests through the evening, and musicians will provide entertainment in proper style.

Das Rosenburger Rittermahl

Entertainers welcome guests and guide them through the evening – in culinary as well as social terms. After putting on garments, the hand washing ritual and being seated on the long table, a brief introduction to medieval table manners and customs – especially the secret of the wooden spoon – follows.

The cup-bearer will serve mead, red or white wine, beer and apple or grape juice. After that the individual courses will be served up with the accompaniment of table music and the cheeky bantering of the entertainers.
Guests eat with a knife and spoon, because they’ll look in vain for a fork. A clear drop from the large selection of fine spirits is advisable after the meal.

Our tip:
After a lavish meal and an entertaining evening, for smaller groups we offer a session for tasting fine spirits in our wine cellar in the old castle kitchen.
